Thank you for your interest in becoming an ACES exchange student at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). While this website will provide you with helpful information, your first point of contact should always be the study abroad coordinator at your home university to determine if your school is a partner exchange school with UIUC.
Please note that while most of the information provided herein applies to all incoming ACES exchange students, the application process is specifically for students applying to a College of ACES exchange program. If you are applying to UIUC through another college/office, please be sure you are following that college/office’s application process.
For more information about the Academic Calendar, including the exams and vacations, please visit the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Senate website.

Coursework is counted in semester credit hours. In general, one credit hour represents a one-hour class period that requires at least two hours of individual study each week for one semester. Thus, a semester 3-credit hour course would meet for three hours a week and the student would be expected to perform at least six hours of homework, self-study, and/or research outside of class. A full semester course load is considered a minimum of 12 credit hours.
An explanation of grades can be found on the Office of the Registrar website.
Academic Year 2019-2020 applicants should expect to verify at least $9,400 (1 semester) or $18,800 (2 semesters).
