After carefully searching for a program, reviewing costs, applying, and being accepted, you will need to take the Orientation Course and complete the proper Course Approval Process with your advisor and submit it to the ACES Study Abroad Office to ensure you are properly registered for courses you will be taking abroad.
It can take approximately 6 to 8 weeks for credit to appear on your University of Illinois record from the date the Office of the Registrar receives your foreign transcript and all course approvals. To avoid delays, notify your program or institution to send the transcript of your coursework abroad to the ACES Study Abroad Office.
After receiving all transcripts and course approvals the Office of the Registrar will convert international credits and grades into the University of Illinois credit and grade equivalents using approved scales.
Keep in mind that your foreign university transcript is part of your academic record. Every course on the foreign transcript must be processed, even if you do not need a course to satisfy your graduation requirement.
Once credits and grades have been converted, they will appear on your Degree Audit.
