NRES Careers

An NRES degree opens up a world of opportunity

Students in NRES develop a strong foundation in physical, biological, and social sciences while gaining hands-on experience in their field. Through these experiences, students gain a complex understanding of the environmental issues facing our society and their potential solutions. NRES academic programs are excellent preparation for careers that require strong scientific knowledge, mastery of hands-on management and research techniques, and the ability to work effectively with the public. NRES also has an excellent track record of preparing its students for graduate programs, if you decide you are interested in furthering your education. Our students pursue a wide variety of careers. Recently, graduates have gone to a range of positions, including:

  • Field ecologist for V3 Companies
  • EHS senior associate for Caterpillar Inc.
  • School planning coordinator for Openlands in Chicago
  • Studbook analyst for the Population Management Center at Lincoln Park Zoo
