The Academy encourages excellence in teaching within the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences by providing a forum for our best educators to interact and provide leadership regarding teaching-related issues. This includes sponsoring seminars and symposia on teaching improvement, holding open forums on teaching, recognizing teaching and advising excellence, and facilitating cross-disciplinary interactions to enhance teaching programs in the College. The Academy promotes our philosophy to educate our students to function in their future and to adapt to change -- a philosophy to instill life-long learning abilities in our students.
The creation of the Academy of Teaching Excellence facilitates continued development of the College's teaching program by providing the opportunity for scholarly discourse among a select group of outstanding educators within the College. This group is the focal point to maintain motivation and enthusiasm for teaching and advising and to enrich teaching development among all the faculty of the College.
