Xavier Morgan’s goal is to leave his mark on the agriculture industry. He is working toward this goal through the agricultural communications program at the University of Illinois.

“The agriculture industry is a very important industry, not only in our country, but in our entire world,” Xavier says. “I felt it was my responsibility and my calling to pursue a post-secondary degree and career in the agriculture industry to help communicate the importance of agriculture.”

Xavier is preparing for his career as an ag communicator through his involvement in several different organizations. He is currently a Student Advisory Team member for the Agriculture Future of America and a founding member and Treasurer for the UNIFY Food Security Initiative. Recently, he was elected as the ACES Student Senator.

“I believe in being involved as much as I can to get the full experience of being an Illini,” Xavier says. “The most meaningful part of my ACES experience is the network I have built with the staff and my fellow students.”

The close-knit agricultural program has allowed Xavier to meet many people from a variety of backgrounds that all have a passion for agriculture. Xavier has been so successful as an ACES student because he has taken advantage of so many opportunities. He advises future students to do the same.

“Whether it is getting involved in an organization, partaking in a study abroad, or attending a round-table on a topic that you care about. There are so many opportunities you can take advantage of as a student here at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.”
