Student Clubs and Organizations

In ACES, over 30 organizations provide students with the opportunity to network, learn about careers, and contribute to the life of the college. From student clubs based on subjects or hobbies, to honorary societies,  there are plenty of ways to get involved in ACES. 

  • ACE Club
    To make students that are interested in agricultural and consumer economics aware of the opportunities available to them and enhance their knowledge of the fields of agribusiness, textile marketing and consumer economics.

  • ACES Council
    Mission: To serve as the liaison between the students and faculty; to facilitate the development and success of ACES Student Organizations.

  • ACES Global Ambassadors
    Provides a forum for discussion of international agricultural production and practices. AGA feels a need to unite undergraduate and graduate students, along with faculty and staff, from all over the world.   • ACES James Scholar Media Team
    The ACES James Scholar Media Team is comprised of a group of James Scholars that are interested in photography and writing. Members regularly contribute their articles and photos to the honors newsletter and website. Our meetings during the semester are meant have topics of a scholarly nature, and include speakers from various areas of the College of ACES. Our goal is to develop professional development and networking skills through our writing, photography, and fellowship.

  • ACES Student Advancement Committee
    The Student Advancement Committee is a group of undergraduate students who work with the College's Office of Advancement staff to raise funds for College programs, serve as College ambassadors working with alumni groups, and assist with student recruitment efforts. Two of the most widely known activities of SAC include the annual Student Thank-a-Thon and the annual ExplorACES weekend that brings high school juniors and seniors to campus each spring.

  • Agricultural Education Club
    To promote and further Agricultural Education at the University of Illinois and provide social and educational activities for students of agricultural education.

  • Alpha Epsilon
    Alpha Epsilon Honor Society Delta Chapter is part the national Alpha Epsilon Honor Society, an honor society for outstanding biological and agricultural engineers. The mission of the Alpha Epsilon Honor Society is to promote the high ideals of the engineering profession, to give recognition to those agricultural engineers who manifest worthy qualities of character, scholarship, and professional attainment, and to encourage and support such improvements in the Agricultural Engineering profession as will make it an instrument of greater service mankind.
  • Alpha Tau Alpha
    Alpha Tau Alpha is the professional honorary agricultural education organization here on campus. The purpose of the organization is to promote the highest standards of agricultural education through scholarship and fellowship among members. Major activities include regular professional development filed trips to places like Chicago or Indianapolis, as well as working with both high school students and current professionals in the field in order to build upon and compliment members' studies in the field of agricultural education.

  • Alpha Zeta
    Alpha Zeta is an honorary and professional fraternity of men and women whose educational objectives and/or careers fall within the broadly defined field of agriculture.

  • American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Student Branch (ASABE)
    To aid in the professional development of Agricultural Engineering students and to bring them into contact with their peers in a nonacademic environment.

  • Association of Food Technologists (AFT)
    To promote interest in the field of food technology and to acquaint the students with food science faculty.

  • Collegiate 4-H Club
    Promotes leadership, community service, and youth development through leadership conventions, hosting a youth conference, and social and service events. Previous 4-H involvement is not required.

  • Collegiate FFA
    The Collegiate FFA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a chapter in direct connection with the National FFA Organization. It is voting member of the ACES council. The organization is open to all University of Illinois undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Companion Animals Club
    The Companion Animals Club is dedicated to providing educational resources and fun to all animal lovers. At our monthly meetings, guest speakers discuss a wide variety of topics from animal health to animal welfare and rescue. The Companion Animals Club also holds fundraisers to benefit local non-profit organizations and animal shelters.

  • Field and Furrow
    To advance and disseminate knowledge concerning soil and crops; to foster a spirit of cooperation and mutual helpfulness among students in Agronomy; to provide an opportunity for a wider acquaintance with the staff members in Agronomy; to cooperate with other chapters for the furtherance of the Science of Agronomy; to correlate activities in Agronomy with other closely related fields.

  • Floral Design Club
    To give students a place outside of class to broaden their knowledge of floral design techniques, social community, and job opportunities

  • FSHN Graduate Student Association
    FSHNGSA is an association run by FSHN graduate students to increase the interaction among faculty and graduate students by providing social, academic, and career related events. Everyone is welcome!

  • Gamma Sigma Delta
    Gamma Sigma Delta is the premier honor society in agriculture. It is international in character and has 47 local chapters at universities and colleges offering degrees in agriculture throughout the United States, Honduras, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Gamma Sigma Delta has the broad objective of encouraging advancement in all branches of the agricultural sciences and human ecology.

    To provide the opportunities for students to develop a greater knowledge of the animal science industry and to unite and promote this industry.

  • Human Nutrition Club
    To unite those interested in the advancement of nutrition through education,awarness,and outreach both on campus and throughout the community. The Food Science and Human Nutrition Club at the University of Illinois offers many leadership opportunities to FSHN students. FSHN club members participate inleadership, professional, service, social, and fundraising activities. The club also offers an outlet for students to meet others interested in the same or similar pathway.

  • Illini Agricultural Mechanization Club
    To provide opportunity for students and faculty to become better acquainted. To provide opportunity for students to hear and talk with speakers from industry. To provide opportunity for students to work together and with faculty on club projects and activities.

    Promoting the dairy industry by providing activities for interested people, Cow Olympiad, judging teams, regional meetings, and PDCA Calf Sale.

  • Illini Equestrians
    To promote interest in the art of horsemanship and expand knowledge and expertise in the fields of equine management and techniques. Also to provide students, staff, and faculty of the U of I that have an interest in horses to meet and enjoy horse-related activities with others having the same interest. Members given a chance to participate in all aspects of planning and managing horse shows and clinics throughout the year.

  • Illini Foresters
    To represent and advance the interests of students of forestry in student affairs and campus activities; to promote fellowship among forestry student faculty and alumni, and to further the students professional development.

  • Illini Pork Link
    The organization serves as a networking resource for internships and career planning through its various industry friends and supporters that participate in a series of topical seminars in the spring. It also provides opportunities to interact with other students, professors, and industry professionals. Activities include interaction with the Illinois Pork Producers Association during the Pork Expo, involvement with research initiatives, industry field trips, hosting a career fair, and participation in various related pork conferences held in the industry.

  • Illini Poultry Club
    The objective of the Illini Poultry Club is to provide social, academic, and professional events and activities for anyone interested in poultry and other avian species and to provide further knowledge and understanding of poultry science and the poultry industry through these activities.

  • Illini Pullers
    Illini Pullers' main objective is to design and manufacture a 1/4 scale pulling tractor for the ASABE International Student Design Competition held annually in Peoria, Ill. The competition lets students strengthen the knowledge learned in class and apply it in a real world setting, preparing for career successes. As a team member, one can focus on the design and manufacturing aspects, business operations, or both. Students gain invaluable hands-on experience as well as sharpen their time-management and problem-solving skills.

  • Illinois Turf Club
    The U of I Turf Club was founded in January of 1997 by a group of turf students to provide an opportunity for students to network with peers and professionals in the field, promote turfgrass management as a profession and encourage interaction with other students through educational and social programs. The club has enjoyed a successful first part of the year and anticipates the same for the rest of the year.

  • Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS)
    MANRRS promotes leadership development, enhances academic skills, facilitates networking, and fosters diversity in the food, agricultural and related sciences.

  • Off Road Illini
    Off Road Illini is the University of Illinois Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Mini-Baja Team. The team designs, builds, and races a single-seat off-road car in the SAE collegiate competition series. Off Road Illini provides an excellent source of hands on knowledge of basic engineering principles, with the reward of the creation of a car by the end of the school year.

  • Pre-Vet Club
    Provide information to students interested in gaining admission to College of Veterinary Medicine. Includes regular lecture series.

  • Production Animal Club
    This is a NEW club for students looking to gain more experience with production animals such as sheep, cattle, swine, and poultry. No experience is necessary, we will be providing you with experience!

  • Rodeo Club
    To promote Rodeo on a Collegiate level, and to increase interest in the sport, as well as allow students to participate in Rodeo events.

  • Sigma Alpha
    Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among its members. The sorority was founded in 1978 at the Ohio State University by five women who wanted an alternative to the social Greek sorority system. Since that time, Sigma Alpha has become a national organization consisting of more than 50 chapters. Since our founding, more than 2,200 members have been initiated into Sigma Alpha Sorority! We're growing steadily as other women in agriculture learn about us. Sigma Alpha is a member of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA), a national organization of professional fraternities and sororities. Both Sigma Alpha Sorority and the Sigma Alpha Alumni Association are affiliates of American Agri-Women.

  • Student Dietetics Associations
    The SDA is the advocate of the dietetic option in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, serving the students and local community through promotion of optimal nutrition, health and well being.To prepare dietetic students for future careers and help them explore the field of nutrition.

  • Student Equine Emergency and Rehabilitation Society (S.E.E.R.S) Club
    We are a service organization dedicated to raising money and supplying volunteers to local equine rescues and function as a student outreach group, educating the community on proper equine care. We also act in cooperation with local equine rescue agencies help rehabilitate and facilitate the adoption of rescued horses.

  • Teachers for Creatures
    Teachers 4 Creatures is a club that is dedicated to educating and interacting with the local community in order to increase knowledge about companion animals. We have 5 committees in our club that focus on different aspects in the companion animal field, which include Anti-Breed Discrimination, Puppy Mill Education, Exotic Animals, Animal Assisted Activities, and Feline Overpopulation.   • Veterinarians Without Borders
    Veterinarians without Borders connects and organizes students to volunteer with wildlife and conservation programs in developing countries, assists with funding these trips where possible and encourages cultural immersion and awareness of the local socio-economic and environmental issues.
