Many students think of careers as a one-time decision – but in reality finding a career path is an on-going process. Responding to changes in life, as jobs change and new jobs are developed, the "right" career will change as well.
It is important to have accurate information about the world of work because career decisions can easily be based on faulty assumptions. Solid information is needed to make good decisions. Knowing what a career is really like is important to decide if it is right for you!
The ACES job shadow program provides students with the opportunity to learn about professional opportunities within their discipline. Students will be introduced to potential career paths and observe a "day-in-the-life" of a professional in the field. The ACES job shadow program is open to all students within the college; however, freshmen and sophomores are especially encouraged to apply.
Job shadowing experiences are being provided by employers that regularly hire ACES graduates for intern and full-time positions and ACES alumni choosing to be part of the program. The date of the actual job shadow is determined by the employer or alumni providing the experience. The date of the experience will likely be during winter break and be listed in the job shadow posting. Students are responsible for any transportation, lodging, or other costs associated with participating in the program.
Use your I-Link account to search available job shadow opportunities.
Employers/alumni will review the resumes that are submitted and select students for their job shadowing experience. Students will be notified of their match in early December.
